New Orleans Levee System History

Hurricane Katrina was serious. Since the city of New Orleans is 12 meters under water, it has always been in danger. The storm surge from Hurricane Katrina went right over the barrier islands and the waves of the sea is affected. It was also due to the massive rains that filled up the canal flows and sent more water in the canals. Meanwhile, the Mississippi is based on the high side and is now draining into its normal flow plus that of the Hurricane. Add this tothe winds of Category 4 or 5 Country Autumn "Katrina" and it was almost the worst-case scenario and the levees broke in several places, and perhaps large enough to actually fill in breaches of New Orleans like a bowl of soup. Some computer models have predicted up to 30 meters deep in water in some places. Not good, of course, and unfortunately, these models proved to be very, what's happening now .. close

Much study has been on this and the risks are known and doneare here explored the linksbelow.

Even after the hurricaneKatrina came, we know that three weeks as the water runoff from the remnants of Katrina on the rivers including the mighty Mississippi River, which passes through the City of New Orleans, sewer flow if and when the banks on the city, the water will continue to flow, and always so much water from the city of Soup Bowl of New Orleans could take months. It seems that has happened now, the city soup bowl is almost full. But, unfortunately, by the seasidenot on this side of the Mississippi. This has the complete destruction of the city in which from some to question, float causes, why bother to build it up again because of the cost? We promised, we will rebuild and we will. That will take years. Think about this issue.
