Louisiana Unclaimed Money Totals $ 330 million

Louisiana State Treasury Department has hundreds of millions worth of unclaimed property of lost assets, which have left their residence, or just about forgotten. These assets uncashed payroll checks, old bank accounts, stocks and shares including dividends, royalties, utility deposits, interest, insurance goes, pension benefits and contents of abandoned safe deposit box.

According to the law firms and organizations are required to apply these to the state if their ownersnot claim it after a period of 3-5 years for most assets. Unclaimed Savings Bonds are a great piece of Louisiana claimed a total of 330 million U.S. dollars cash. State Treasurer John Kennedy tried to forget lost reunification matured U.S. savings bonds and other types of Louisiana property with approximately one in six of the inhabitants of the state.

In Baton Rouge alone, over 80,000 people, because almost $ 27 million in the Louisiana unclaimed property records listed. AfterState Treasurer, "The State of Louisiana residents owed millions of dollars in unclaimed property, and we want to give this money back." Louisiana Unclaimed Property Law requires the State Treasury Department, the names of individuals and businesses who owed money to achieve in the newspapers all over the state every year, and further efforts to publish the rightful owner to use.

An "Awareness Day" at Lakeside Shopping Center recently held, the Louisiana Department of TreasuryThere-back $ 133,000 unclaimed money for the residents of New Orleans to thank. "This is one of the largest unclaimed property events we've ever had," said Treasurer Kennedy. "We estimate that we are about 3,000 people were present over five hours. The average unclaimed property claim is usually about $ 200 to $ 400, but an individual in the mall claimed more than 20,000 U.S. dollars."

A lot of people do not know about the government, leaving money and that one of the reasons why thetotal of unclaimed property money in the U.S. now stands at around 35 billion U.S. dollars. Hard to believe, and a bit ironic, but people lose sight of the money lead in their quest to earn more, especially in the fast-paced lifestyle we have today. Double-jobs, skipping from job to job, change of address or name (through marriage), retirement, and death may cause us to lose all track of financial assets, which belong to us. Have sent checks and financial advice "return to sender" when people forgetto leave behind forwarding addresses (as in the case) of an emergency. Disasters resulting from hurricanes in the past, crowds of displaced families, which will surely lead to the already impressive unclaimed property fund in Louisiana to that balloon.

Efforts to reach the Government to help the owners of unclaimed money and property are already inadequate again, all 330 million U.S. dollars currently in the hands of the state. Residents are encouraged to take the initiative and do a search for the lostMoney in Louisiana and other states. LA. unclaimed property claims for $ 250 and above must be notarized, but it is not possible, an online application form for under $ 249 book. On-line searches can thus relatively easily and quickly is the key to know where to look.
